Golfing and caddie background:
While home one summer from playing my first year of collegiate golf. I noticed a Nationwide Tour event (now Korn Ferry Tour) event was being played just north of Toronto. I called the pro shop and asked to caddie because I wanted to see how good the players just below the PGA Tour really were and help evaluate my own game. Met a lot of players, caddies and agents. The following summer one of those agents contacted me about one of his players that I did for a summer job then eventually turning to a full time career.
What do you love about caddying?
The fact every week is a clean slate you try and build something special that week. Each tournament is its own unique opportunity.
Interesting caddie story:
First time traveling to Asia. I planned an 18 hour layover in Tokyo so I could explore the city. On the bullet train ride from the airport I left my bag with my passport in it. The story takes a while and half of Tokyo covered by foot. The next 12 hours tracking it down in a country that doesn’t speak English was stressful, comical. I can’t thank strangers I’d never met before enough for helping during that day…. made my next flight.
